The Epistle of Barnabas
Anonymous (c. 70-135 AD)
Written in the late first or early second century, this early Christian letter argues that the Old Testament covenant was never truly Israel's, and that its laws were always meant to be read as allegory pointing to Christ. Its three interlocking arguments cover the abolition of Jewish ritual, the spiritual reinterpretation of the Mosaic law, and a closing two-ways section on Christian ethics. Preserved complete in the Codex Sinaiticus and treated as scripture by some early churches, it remains the most uncompromising supersessionist text among the Apostolic Fathers.
