The Lord Our Righteousness
George Whitefield (1714-1770)
A sermon on the doctrine of imputed righteousness, arguing that Christ's perfect obedience is the only ground of the believer's justification before God. Whitefield preached it throughout the Great Awakening as his most explicit statement on the heart of the gospel, and it was widely circulated in print on both sides of the Atlantic.
